New ICMP forum on missing persons in BiH to be held in Banja Luka on Tuesday

The issue of missing persons during the bloody conflicts in Bosnia and Herzegovina will also be discussed at a forum in Banja Luka on February 17, organized by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), reports the BiH news agency Patria. The forum will be held at the Hotel Bosna.

Sanja Mulać, from ICMP, stated after the forum on missing persons held on Thursday in Mostar that the Institute is achieving significant results in finding missing persons. Despite this, Mulić stated that even though the basic conditions for the Institute's work are limited, the majority of persons reported missing from the Herzegovina region after the end of the armed conflicts have been found, and ICMP will continue to be dedicated to this work and the search process.

Safija Hrinić, president of the Association of Missing Persons Prozor, said that if the Institute is strengthened, investigators in the field will be more effective, and families will be more satisfied.

At the end of the armed conflicts in the former Yugoslavia, 40,000 missing persons were sought, and the majority of them were and still are being sought in the territory of BiH. In BiH, nearly 8,000 missing persons are still being sought, reports NAP.
