The New Year 2017 has arrived in Samoa and the Republic of Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean, which are about 13 hours ahead of Central European Time.
The New Year then arrived in New Zealand, with fireworks launched from the Sky Tower in Auckland.
Pacific countries Nauru, Tuvalu, and parts of eastern Russia will enter the new year an hour later.
In the coming hours, residents of China, Korea, Vietnam, and India will also celebrate the arrival of 2017.
Parts of French Polynesia and American Samoa are among the last to enter the new year.
