The new 1438 AH year begins on October 1st

According to the calendar of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first day of the New 1438 AH year begins on Saturday, October 1st, at sunset, it was announced by the Administration for Religious Affairs of the Islamic Community in BiH, extending congratulations to believers on this occasion with a wish that they spend it in God's blessing and abundance, reports the Patria News Agency.

The Muslim calendar is a lunar calendar, and the year of this calendar is 10 days shorter than the solar calendar year, and the new year according to the Hijri calendar begins on the 1st of Muharram. 

This way of calculating time was adopted during the caliphate of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, and the beginning of the calculation of time was taken as the Hijra - the migration of Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, from Mecca to Medina. The Hijra occurred in 622 AD according to Jesus, peace and blessings of God be upon him. Muhammad, peace be upon him, was forced to leave his hometown of Mecca and go where he would not be in danger.

Medina, or Yathrib as it was called then, offered him refuge, and the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, left his city at night and migrated to Medina, where he lived until his death.
