Hundreds of people were evacuated on Saturday from one of the tallest residential buildings in the world when a fire engulfed the Torch in Dubai, a 79-story skyscraper, reports the Patria news agency.
Witnesses report that flames were coming from two sides of the building, with glass and metal falling from the top of the structure, which is over 330 meters high.
Hospital sources say there are no injuries. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire several hours after the alarm was raised around midnight Central European Time.
The cause of the fire, which most likely broke out on the 50th floor of the skyscraper opened in 2011, is currently unknown.
