Night of Cinema: Enjoy Movies with Free Admission on December 28 from 5 PM to Midnight

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Sarajevo, a UNESCO City of Film, is organizing a Night of Cinema as a gift to the public, which will allow free admission to cinemas in Sarajevo on Tuesday, December 28, from 5 PM
to midnight.

During the New Year's holidays, the Night of Cinema will open the doors of Sarajevo cinemas for one night and allow citizens of Sarajevo and tourists to enjoy movies for free at the following cinemas: Cineplexx, CineStar, in the multimedia center Ilidža – Igman cinema, Meeting Point cinema, Novi Grad cinema, and Free Cinema Valter.

Each cinema has prepared a special program for the Night of Cinema, for all generations. CineStar Sarajevo will be showing the following films for free from 5 PM to midnight in several time slots: "Južni vjetar: Ubrzanje" (South Wind: Acceleration), "Matrix Uskrsnuća" (The Matrix Resurrections), "Nebesa" (The Heavens), "Deset u pola" (Ten in a Half), "Spencer", "Priča sa zapadne strane" (West Side Story), "Ništa od Božića ove godine" (Nothing for Christmas This Year), "Medo sa sjevera 3 – Kraljevska avantura" (The Polar Bear 3 – Royal Adventure), "Jahač zmaja" (Dragon Rider), "Encanto: Naš čarobni svijet" (Encanto: Our Magical World), "Dina" (Dune), "Vječnici" (Eternals), "Kralj Richard" (King Richard), and "Kolonija" (Colony). Tickets can only be obtained at the box office of CineStar Sarajevo in Bingo City Center starting Monday, December 27. The program with exact timings will be published on the cinema's website on the same day.

Reservations are not possible, and tickets are given on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached. It is possible to collect 3 tickets per person.

Cineplexx Sarajevo will be showing the following films for free from 5 PM to midnight in several halls and time slots: "Spider-man: Put bez povratka" (Spider-Man: No Way Home), "Jahač zmaja" (Dragon Rider), "Istjerivači duhova: Naslijeđe" (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), "Resident Evil Početak: Raccoon City" (Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City), "Medo sa sjevera 3: Kraljevska avantura" (The Polar Bear 3: Royal Adventure), "Ništa od Božića ove godine" (Nothing for Christmas This Year), "Tabija", "Koncentriši se, baba" (Focus, Grandma), "Tjelohranitelj mafijaše žene" (The Bodyguard of the Mafia Wife), "Spencer", "Deset u pola" (Ten in a Half), "Toma", and "Otet" (Taken). Tickets can be collected from Friday, December 24, exclusively at the cinema box office, and reservations are not possible. 4 tickets can be collected per person.
The box office opening hours are weekdays from 2:30 PM and weekends from 10:30 AM.

Meeting Point Cinema will show two films on the Night of Cinema: at 5:30 PM the film "Tabija" by Igor Drljača and at 8:30 PM "Deset u pola" (Ten in a Half) by Danis Tanović. Tickets can be collected at Meeting Point one hour before the screening starts.

Free Cinema Valter will show Bahrudin Čengić's film "Uloga moje porodice u svjetskoj revoluciji" (The Role of My Family in the World Revolution) at 5 PM on the Night of Cinema, and at 7 PM a program of short films called Shorts on Repeat: "Home, sweet home" (Mirko Kosmar, 1983, 22 min.), "Ambalaža" (Packaging) (Velimir Stojanović, 1972, 9 min.), "Prvi korak" (First Step) (Miloš Babić, 1987, 14 min.), and "Šarm birokratije" (The Charm of Bureaucracy) (Vefik Hadžismajlović, 1987, 13 min.).

The multimedia center Ilidža – Igman cinema will host two screenings: at 6 PM "Deset u pola" (Ten in a Half) by Danis Tanović, and at 8 PM "Koncentriši se, baba" (Focus, Grandma) by Pjer Žalica. Tickets are collected one hour before the screening starts.

In the Novi Grad cinema, the comedy "Deset u pola" (Ten in a Half) by Danis Tanović will be shown in two time slots – at 6 PM and 8:30 PM. Tickets are collected one hour before the screening starts.

More detailed information about the films can be found on the cinemas' websites and social media. The Night of Cinema will be held in accordance with epidemiological measures – cinema capacities are limited.

The Night of Cinema will be held for the first time in Sarajevo symbolically on the day the Lumière brothers held the first cinema screening in the world, December 28, 1895, in Paris.

We hope that this event will become a tradition in Sarajevo, which was officially declared a UNESCO City of Film in 2019.
