PS BiH Independent Board preparing tender for SIPA Director

The session of the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH will be held on Tuesday, August 18, starting at 12:00 PM, where the text of the tender for the election of the new director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) will be determined, confirmed Enes Obralija, a member of the PS BiH Independent Board, to the Patria agency today.

Although the date when the tender will be publicly announced is not yet known, Obralija said that everything will be done as soon as possible and in accordance with the legal deadline of 60 days.

We remind you that the Council of Ministers of BiH, at its session on August 5, dismissed Goran Zubac, the convicted director of SIPA, based on the unanimous decision of the PS BiH Independent Board for his dismissal. Đuro Knežević, the deputy director, will perform the function until the election of a new director.

By the decision of the Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH, Zubac was finally sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence, after the Court confirmed the first-instance verdict by which he was found guilty of the criminal offense of dereliction of duty in service when he refused to send the Special Unit in front of the Presidency of BiH building during the protests on February 7, 2014, which was then set on fire.

As could be heard earlier, the position of SIPA director should go to SDS. Some of the possible candidates whose names have been heard recently are Ranko Vuković, chief inspector in the RS Police Administration, and Relja Kovač from the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH.
