A thematic evening dedicated to the Balkans was held on the ARTE television program. Some journalists from German newspapers noticed this and wrote something on this occasion about the documentaries being shown, but also about the region itself, writes Deutsche Welle, reports Patria.
"What the Middle East is today, the Balkans was yesterday" is the title of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

From the Serbian attack on Vukovar in 1991 to the containment of fighting in Macedonia by NATO intervention in 2001, wars and ethnic cleansing in the region occupied the world's attention.
