German authorities extradite Milorad Obradović to Bosnia and Herzegovina, suspected of crimes in Prijedor

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - German authorities have extradited a suspect who was located, identified, and apprehended in Munich late last year. The extradition from the Federal Republic of Germany was carried out at Sarajevo International Airport today, handing over the suspect Milorad Obradović, known as “Stiven”, born in 1967 in the village of Miska Glava, Prijedor, to the Bosnian and Herzegovinian judiciary.

- The suspect is under investigation by the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and is suspected of participating in the unlawful deprivation of liberty and torture of approximately 120 Bosniak civilians in July 1992 at the Miska Glava site, Prijedor municipality, who were subsequently taken into captivity and then shot and killed at the Kipe - Ljubija site.

Furthermore, the suspect is accused of personally and directly killing three Bosniak civilians by firing a weapon at the stadium of FK Rudar.

The judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been searching for the suspect for several months, with operational intelligence indicating his presence abroad. The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina thanks the judicial and police institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany for their cooperation and assistance in realizing the extradition.

A procedure is underway in the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the case against Slobodan Taranjac and others for the aforementioned war crime.

At the request of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, dozens of international arrest warrants have been activated and issued so far for suspects of war crimes committed throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, for whom there is intelligence indicating they are outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with partner agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and around the world, is undertaking activities to locate, apprehend, and extradite suspects to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
