Germany no longer accepts diplomas in general and paediatric nursing obtained through retraining

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Agency for Labour and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina informs all interested candidates who, through the Agency for Labour and Employment of BiH, apply for caregiver jobs in Germany that changes have been made on the German side regarding the rules of procedure and conditions that candidates must meet in the employment procedure. The changes relate to the recognition of diplomas obtained through retraining and the recognition of German language certificates. 

„Based on the decision of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Germany, diplomas from completed medical schools for general and paediatric nursing, obtained through retraining in either a state or private school, are no longer accepted. Therefore, we draw the attention of candidates who apply through the Agency for Labour and Employment of BiH for caregiver jobs in Germany that the Central Office for the Placement of Skilled Workers (ZAV) has, since February 2019, begun issuing rejections for all such diplomas, and it is no longer possible to establish an employment relationship as a caregiver with diplomas obtained through retraining. Also, we recommend that candidates, along with their application, submit not only the appropriate diploma but also transcripts of all completed grades of secondary school, translated into German.“, said Muamer Bandić, Director of the Agency for Labour and Employment of BiH.

Bandić also stated that regarding German language certificates, as of 1 June 2019, the Embassy of Germany in BiH will, when submitting applications for a work visa, no longer accept ÖSD certificates for which the exam was taken outside the Republic of Austria until further notice.

"The mentioned date refers to the date of submission of the application for a work visa at the Embassy of Germany in BiH, not the date of issuance of the certificate. Therefore, all candidates who submit their applications to the Agency for Labour and Employment of BiH after 1 April 2019 must have a German language certificate that complies with the requirements of the Embassy of Germany in BiH“, stated Director Bandić.
