Germany writes off BiH debt of 20 million euros

The German federal government has written off a debt of 20 million euros for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The condition for this debt write-off was that Bosnia and Herzegovina invest 4 million euros in the rehabilitation of the Trebinje and Rama hydropower plants to strengthen renewable energy, reports the Patria News Agency.  

 

After Bosnia and Herzegovina has now fulfilled this condition, the debt write-off has been enabled.

Ambassador Christian Hellbach welcomed the fact that financial cooperation between Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina has borne fruit in this way. This encourages the development of the renewable energy sector, which is so important for Bosnia and Herzegovina and still holds great potential. At the same time, Germany is making an indirect contribution to climate protection in this way.

In total, the German government has made around 750 million euros available for Financial Cooperation projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina so far, according to the German Embassy in BiH.
