German Embassy in BiH: We hope all leaders will sign the statement after the BiH Presidency

The German Embassy welcomes the agreement of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the adoption of a binding joint statement, which was signed yesterday, the Embassy announced, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- The text of the binding joint statement of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, presented yesterday, in which the leaders of all parliamentary parties commit to implementing the necessary reforms in the process of Bosnia and Herzegovina's EU integration, reflects the outcome of the talks held by the foreign ministers of Germany and the United Kingdom, Steinmeier and Hammond, with party representatives on January 16. The text incorporates all the remarks made by party leaders and represents a balanced compromise.
We hope that all party leaders will sign this statement. After years of stagnation, this statement opens the way for further integration steps. Even more importantly, through this statement, party leaders commit to undertaking concrete reforms to address the country's pressing economic and social problems. That is what the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina want.

The signing of the statement and its confirmation by the BiH Parliament are an important first step in the further sequence. Above all, it is essential to immediately begin drafting a concrete reform agenda. The EU and Germany remain ready to support Bosnia and Herzegovina on this path. Because we are convinced that Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs in the European Union and that it
must not fall behind other countries in the region on this path.
