Netherlands considers sanctions against Dodik and RS authorities

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jan Waltmans, announced today on his Twitter profile that the Kingdom of the Netherlands is "considering steps" to sanction the authorities in Republika Srpska (RS).

"Unconstitutional steps by Republika Srpska, blockade of state institutions, and lack of reforms will have consequences. For example, a reduction in EU and international aid can be expected. Other steps have also been considered. The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve healthy politics and functional institutions," Waltmans wrote on Twitter.

EU member states still lack a unified stance on sanctions against Milorad Dodik and the RS authorities, but several countries have already announced individual measures they will introduce regardless of the European Union's position.

These include Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, and Sweden.
