Did not come to work: Members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Serbian people marked January 9 as a “state holiday”

The Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, General Anto Jeleč, sent a letter marked “urgent” to the Operational Command and the Support Command on February 6. The letter concerns members of the AF BiH who were absent from work on January 9 this year, Patria learns.

General Jeleč responded to an inquiry from the Operational Command regarding the method of record-keeping and salary calculation for those members of the AF BiH who were absent from work on January 9, when the unconstitutional holiday of the RS Day was observed.

He clarified that each member should declare whether they were on annual leave, sick leave, or using the legal option to observe the holiday.

According to unofficial information we have obtained, all members of the AF BiH from the Serbian people declared that they were observing the “state holiday”.

In his letter, Jeleč indicated that he had received no response from the Ministry of Defense of BiH to his inquiry on how to proceed in this case, and he decided, in accordance with his authority, to allow each member of the AF BiH to personally declare regarding January 9.

It would be interesting to see how many members of the AF BiH, as well as employees of the Ministry of Defense of BiH, were absent from work on January 9 due to the observance of the unconstitutional holiday. It is clear that this exclusively concerns members of the AF BiH from the Serbian people.
