You didn't outvote Izetbegović, you humiliated Bosniaks

There is no more pointless political excuse on the entire globe than those used by politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

When asked why he refused to give consent to the agreement between the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Islamic Community, which has been waiting on the table for years, Ivanić said he refused to support that agreement because Izetbegović submitted it for signing even though he knew he would not support it.

Čović's comment on the fascist situation in the Presidency is even more foolish. A few days earlier, when accused of sabotaging the agreement between the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the largest religious institution in the country, he responded with a counter-accusation that these were mere fabrications by those who do not want peace and coexistence in BiH, because such an agreement had never even been on the agenda of a Presidency session. When the agreement actually appeared before him, he then said he refused to sign it because the information that he would not support such an agreement appeared in the media before he even failed to support it.

To be clear and precise, neither Čović nor Ivanić outvoted Izetbegović and the SDA by not signing the agreement with the Islamic Community, nor did they outvote Kavazović and the imams. Faith is neither Bakir's nor the hodža's. At least according to the Islamic understanding of religion, there is no intermediary between Him and mortals. Čović and Ivanić humiliated more than 1,700,000 Bosniaks, or at the very least, those among Bosniaks who declare themselves believers.

The issue of religious freedom is a matter of democracy. Čović - albeit for his own interests - loudly advocates for the rights of Croats in BiH, while simultaneously majorizing other peoples in BiH. What the state previously signed with the Catholic and Orthodox churches, the same right is being denied to the Islamic Community in BiH, without anyone knowing the real reason why Čović and Ivanić are doing this.

A more complex question is how this type of humiliation of Bosniaks will affect overall inter-ethnic relations in the country. Who will explain to Bosniaks that they were not humiliated by Serbs and Croats, but by representatives of political parties who do not even have an honest 20 percent support among their own people. And even of that 20 percent, half is bought and stolen.

For every possible new fraction of tension in the country sparked by the denial of religious rights of Bosniaks, the bill should be sent to Čović and Ivanić.

The entire fuss around the non-signing of the agreement between the Presidency of BiH and the Islamic Community, which is nothing more than a guarantee of religious freedoms, as confirmed, among other things, by international conventions and rights, was defined in a broader context by the pro-European and open-minded imam of the Čaršija Mosque in Prijedor, Omer Redžić:

Why is the issue of the state's agreement with the Islamic Community only an issue for the Islamic Community?
Why does this not burden the Interreligious Council?
Why does this not burden the state?
Or other Bosniak political entities whose functions are performed by Bosniaks?
Or, under ideal conditions, why does this not interest other religious communities?
