NIP joined by the movement 'Together for a Better Srebrenik'

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Narod i Pravda addressed the public with a press release, which we are transmitting in its entirety:

On Saturday evening, a meeting of the political movement "Zajedno za bolji Srebrenik" (Together for a Better Srebrenik) was held in Srebrenik, where the accession of the entire political movement and its president and mayor of Srebrenik, Nihad Omerović, to the "Narod i Pravda" (People and Justice) family was voted on and officially confirmed.

The accession of the political movement "Zajedno za Srebrenik" and the mayor of Srebrenik, Nihad Omerović, represents the continuation of the expansion of Narod i Pravda and the construction of party infrastructure in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"This is certainly a great reinforcement for Narod i Pravda, as it involves a city organization and a mayor who achieved a fantastic result in the last local elections with a convincing victory for Omerović in the race for mayor, as well as a significant result for the 'Za bolji Srebrenik' movement's list, which won as many as 7 council seats," stated the press release from Narod i Pravda.

Nihad Omerović was a member of SDA from 1992, serving as party secretary, a member of the Executive Board, and a councilor in the Municipal Council. In the extraordinary elections in 2014, he won his first term as mayor as an SDA candidate.

Two years later, as a joint candidate of SDA-SBB, he won a record number of votes (13,155), or almost 70 percent of the votes. Immediately after these elections, disagreements began with the SDA Srebrenik municipal board, which culminated in the second half of 2018 when he officially left SDA with a group of councilors, leadership, and members.

At the beginning of 2020, he founded the local political movement "Zajedno za bolji Srebrenik" with his associates and became its president. In the 2020 local elections, Nihad Omerović once again convincingly won the mandate of mayor with 10,335 votes, defeating his main political opponent – the president of the SDA Srebrenik city board, the director of the Srebrenik Health Center, and the federal deputy Ibrahim Zukić, who received 6,639 votes.

The list of the "Zajedno za bolji Srebrenik" movement won 7 seats in the City Council; 4 councilors are successful private entrepreneurs (Adis Fazlić, Mustafa Šabić, Mustafa Kovač, and Šefket Musić), and 3 councilors are successful young athletes (Azur Ibrić – BiH snooker champion, Selma Omerović – licensed coach of the BiH women's national football team, and Dino Andrić – captain of OFK Gradina Srebrenik).

"Joining Narod i Pravda is a continuation of the political struggle, both for a better Srebrenik and for a better BiH. There were pressures and offers from other political options, but we chose Narod i Pravda as a political option that not only declares but fundamentally lives its principles and represents a true political alternative," said Mayor Nihad Omerović.

The president of Narod i Pravda, Elmedin Konaković, stated that the movement "Zajedno za bolji Srebrenik" and Narod i Pravda have a similar political concept.

"We announced that we will continue to expand the Narod i Pravda family with honest and brave people, those for whom the interest of the state and the people is above the interest of the party and any individual interest. I feel encouraged when I see that in many of our communities, a new generation of leaders is emerging who think differently, for whom the interest of their city, their homeland is above all else. I am also happy to see that such people recognize fellow travelers in Narod i Pravda, when they confirm that we have inspired and encouraged them and express a desire to continue together," said Konaković.
