Nikšić's call to Radončić and Komšić: Consider collapsing the Sarajevo Canton Government

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The President of SDP BiH Nermin Nikšić commented on Jasna Duraković's departure from SBB, who refused to vote for the dismissal of the current Sarajevo Canton Government, which is what the new majority in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, consisting of SDA, SBB, and DF, is demanding.

Nikšić states that the profession of politician has long been completely devalued in Bosnia and Herzegovina, precisely due to the fact that some politicians have daily provided the public with reasons for such an attitude through their behavior.

"Lies, deceit, framing, blackmail, and hypocrisy have become our daily routine and a common occurrence. Pre-election promises are valid only until election night, and the story changes the very next morning. Under the guise of great state or patriotic interests, the biggest political opponents, and sometimes not just political but also lifelong enemies, become allies and partners. Those who swore they would never work with each other again suddenly didn't really mean it and perhaps exaggerated a bit, because, you know, it's about higher interests. Of course, even this apparent love has an expiration date, until the next opportunity or until some unfulfilled ambition.

Because let's not lie to ourselves, at least that is clear, despite the grand words, it is ultimately about occupying a few ministerial seats or public companies, or management and supervisory boards. That is why the emergence of the Government in Sarajevo Canton, which has uncompromisingly embarked on changing the situation, represents a light at the end of the tunnel for the citizens of Sarajevo, but also in Bosnia and Herzegovina. For this reason, this Government has been and is a thorn in the side of SDA, because every day that passes shows the drastic difference compared to the governments led by SDA. Precisely because the citizens of Sarajevo recognized and felt the positive change, they reacted negatively to the attempt to collapse it. While absolutely aware that no government is ideal, not even this Sarajevo government, I am sure it can be even better, but it is incomparably better than others," says Nikšić.

He points out that the gesture of the deputy in the Cantonal Assembly, Jasna Duraković, has met with undivided public support.

"With her move, Jasna has offered a completely different understanding of politics, honor, and morality. She is aware that she will be targeted and that she will now be attacked, falsely accused, and gossiped about. Nevertheless, she placed principles advocated and lived by her late father and the first president of SDP BiH, Nijaz Duraković, above all else. Fully aware that the arguments and persuasive power of SDA are much more concrete than our appeals to pre-election promises, morality, and honor, I want to publicly thank the respected deputy Duraković for her action, which shows that there are still people who keep their word.

At the same time, I call on other deputies in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly to follow her example and respect the will of the citizens who support the current government. Furthermore, I once again call on the leaders of DF and SBB to reconsider the clearly expressed opposition of the citizens to their decision to collapse the cantonal government together with SDA," said Nikšić.
