Nikšić's call to the left: We are not weak at all, but the strong unite to show their power!

SDP BiH President Nermin Nikšić sent a letter last week to the leaders of the Democratic Front Željko Komšić, Our Party Predrag Kojović and the Civic Alliance Reuf Bajrović to try to reach an agreement on joint candidates for mayors and city mayors in the upcoming local elections in BiH.

Today, Nikšić said that all three presidents of the mentioned parties have responded to him, and meetings and program implementation are expected, which would successfully counter the nationalist bloc.

- To be completely clear. A year ago, I was elected president of the SDP and I had a program with three principles: a united SDP, a united left, and a united BiH.

On our part, as SDP, even before the confirmation of candidate lists, we did everything in talks with these people to reach an agreement. No one should take this as a sign of SDP's weakness. So, we do not want to be closed off and without offers again at any moment. All the polls we have conducted show that these political parties to which I sent the letter, conditionally speaking, parties of the left or center-left, have greater public support than SDA and SBB and other national blocs.

However, here we are talking about this bloc that is trying to sell us a story about spectacle, reforms, victories, and successes. We think that we should try one more time, we are open to cooperation to reach an agreement, and at no point will we allow anyone to interpret this as our weakness. I think we must all together oppose those who, under the guise of nationalism, try to plunder what is left in the FBiH during this period by rattling sabers and talking about fear and referendums. This government we currently have in FBiH is such that the third constituent people in the Federation do not exist, they have divided everything between Bosniaks and Croats – said Nikšić.

He adds that the SDP is ready and is extending its hand again and is open to talks.

- All the presidents of those three political parties have responded to me individually. I hope that talks will take place during this period, whether joint or bilateral, I have no problem sitting with any of them, simply because SDP is a leading party of the left, and in this way, we are trying and ready to help everyone who wants to go together and oppose this bloc that plunders everything that can be plundered – added Nikšić.

The SDP president said that he expects meetings and the implementation of the plan.

- As for the SDP, we are ready for all agreements, but we are not ready for underestimation. To be clear until the end, for the public, so that it is not said that you are weak, so you are trying to unite to be stronger. No, we are not weak at all, because the strong unite to show their power – emphasized Nikšić.
