Nikšić: We lost too much time due to political bickering

The House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament today adopted the Law on the Establishment of a Fund for Assistance to Areas Affected by Natural Disasters during the month of May. The House of Representatives did this first on Thursday, and this also enables the disposal of funds from the account that the Federal Government opened on May 17, and on which 4.2 million KM have been collected. FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić said that aid to flooded areas will be distributed transparently in this way.

- Due to political bickering, we lost too much time, and now we must engage to the maximum to establish a system for collecting and distributing aid in accordance with priorities. It is especially important that representatives of cantons, municipalities, employers, and trade unions will be included in the fund's work, and that this will truly be a project where all levels of government, as well as the economy and trade unions, will unite with the aim of ensuring assistance to the most endangered citizens, as well as business entities that suffered damages in the recent floods – Nikšić told Patria.

He emphasized that the Fund must start working as soon as possible.

- The funds that are already secured and that will be secured in the coming period must begin to be implemented in order to enable people to return to their homes as soon as possible, and to their jobs where they worked before the natural disaster – said Nikšić.

At today's session, the law on the transfer of construction land, free of charge, to those who permanently lost their homes and business premises due to floods and landslides was also adopted, writes Patria.
