Nikšić for NAP: Democracy lost today, the "winners" have no reason to celebrate

Today's events in the Parliament of the Federation of BiH showed that SDA and HDZ do not shy away from violating the rules of procedure and legal violence to implement their anti-people policies – said the president of SDP, Nermin Nikšić, in a statement to the news agency Patria, commenting on the fact that the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH today adopted a new Labor Law despite protests by workers and warnings from opposition parties that the new Labor Law came before the delegates of the House of Peoples in violation of a number of procedures.

It is unbelievable, Nikšić said, that SDA and HDZ BiH ignored the demands of, according to media reports, 10-15 thousand gathered workers who requested an additional deadline to harmonize legal solutions. 

- It is interesting that delegates from parties with only one delegate in the House of Peoples, and no or one MP in the House of Representatives, supported them in this, except for HDZ 1990, which has its MPs in the other house – said Nikšić.

- I do not want to speculate on how the support of these delegates was obtained, but I am sure that they themselves do not believe the thesis that they are supporting BiH's European path in this way. All of this is even more tragic and sad when you consider that this is a Labor Law that will affect all citizens in FBiH.

Nikšić hopes that it is now clear to the citizens that the current government works only in the interest of the chosen few and the privileged, while everyone else can only be and do what the authorities allow them to.

- Such a role is also intended for the MPs elected by the citizens. SDP will fight against such an anti-people government with all democratic political means. Those who think they have won, I think they should not rejoice. Democracy lost today because the people's representatives did not want to hear the voice of the people and the people who elected them – warns Nikšić.

The president of SDP points out that tomorrow is the second half of the match in the House of Representatives. He reminds that there are also judicial institutions that will ultimately have the final say.

He is happy that the workers who protested and demanded their voices to be heard today in the streets of Sarajevo showed a high degree of tolerance and did not allow their protest and justified revolt to escalate into violence.

Dialogue and agreement, Nikšić notes, have no alternative. He reminds that imposing solutions by force has never brought anything good to anyone, and therefore, recognition should be given to the demonstrators for showing that one can fight for their rights by protesting and expressing disagreement, but without violence, writes Patria.
