Nikšić is pressuring delegates for Mekić and Crnogorac to take over the BiH Olympic Committee

(Patria) - The regular session of the Assembly of the Olympic Committee (OC) of BiH, where new leadership and other working bodies are to be elected for a four-year term, is planned in a few days.

After numerous lobbying efforts in the past period, and in the absence of democratic support for Amel Mekić and Branislav Crnogorac, the situation is becoming even more serious.

Instead of relying on established and transparent processes, the political Troika is getting involved in this conflict within the OC of BiH in an extremely problematic way.

Today's convening of OC BiH delegates for a meeting by the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Nermin Nikšić, which is to be held in the building of the Government of the Federation of BiH with the aim of pressuring them to support certain candidates, including Mekić and Crnogorac, is a direct belittling of democracy and the independence of sports institutions. In fact, it is about the intention of Crnogorac, Mekić, but also SDP BiH cadres to take over the Olympic Committee of BiH.

Such behavior not only undermines the credibility of the OC of BiH but also creates a dangerous precedent for the politicization of sports. In such circumstances, it is completely clear that the real interests of sports and its future are being sidelined in favor of political ambitions and manipulations.
