Nikšić: For the FBiH Government, the most important thing is that the money goes to the right hands

The proposal for a law on establishing a federal fund for assistance to areas affected by floods in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, submitted to the FBiH Parliament under an urgent procedure from the FBiH Government, was approved by a majority of votes today at the session of the House of Representatives, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

Nermin Nikšić, Prime Minister of the FBiH, told the Patria agency that the most important thing for the FBiH Government now is to create legal conditions so that the money that comes for the affected areas is spent transparently and for the right purposes. Otherwise, this law was on the agenda last week as well, but it was not supported by a majority of votes. On Monday, this proposal goes before the delegates of the House of Peoples of the PFBiH.

- The FBiH Government is helping the affected municipalities, part of the funds will be transferred at the beginning of next week as well, but all of that is like a drop in the ocean - said Nikšić.

Because of this, he added, it is now more important to ensure a good platform for the quality implementation of the money that will come from the donor conference, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, and from other sources.

- The money that comes should go to the right hands and be implemented in the best possible way. That is why I insisted at meetings with prime ministers and municipal mayors that it must not happen that someone close to the prime minister or a minister receives money that does not belong to them - says Nikšić, writes Patria.
