Nikšić: If the information about Enver Zornić is true, he will be expelled from SDP BiH

(Patria) - President of the Social Democratic Party of BiH Nermin Nikšić, regarding media reports that Enver Zornić, director of KJKP Toplane Sarajevo and member of SDP BiH, has been charged with war crimes, said that it has always been clear that SDP BiH has a zero-tolerance policy towards persons convicted of war crimes.

„I have no doubts and I have often said that each of us bears responsibility for our actions, but that as public figures we must take care that by protecting our own reputation we also protect the reputation and image of the SDP.

I knew that Enver Zornić, like many others, was a member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that he was also one of the commanders, but I did not know about the specific things he is being charged with. If what has been published proves to be true, such persons cannot hold any political functions on behalf of SDP BiH, within party structures, nor can they be members of the party. I believe that principle in politics has no price and for us there are no exceptions in this regard. We will treat this and any other similar case equally. 

So to be completely clear, if the information published in the media is confirmed as true, I will ask Enver Zornić to resign or be removed from the position of General Director of Toplane, and Enver Zornić will also be expelled from SDP BiH.  Like everyone else, Enver Zornić should be given the right to present his defense, the opportunity to deny the allegations and to prove his innocence.

Until this case is fully clarified, he must step down from this position. If a denial is not forthcoming, his appointment will be a huge mistake by all of us in the SDP, for which, in that case, I want to apologize to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the families of the victims and the entire public,” Nikšić stated.
