Nikšić: We must all help the families of the deceased miners

The mining accident in the Raspotočje mine is a great tragedy for the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Unfortunately, we have lost five lives. We share the pain and sympathize with the families of the deceased miners - said the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Nermin Nikšić, who is on the scene, reports the Patria News Agency.

He emphasized that it is the duty of the entire society to help the families of the deceased miners in every way at this moment, adding that the Government of the FBiH, together with Elektroprivreda BiH and the Zenica Mine, will be available for everything that is needed.

- I would like to thank the brave rescuers who, with superhuman efforts, in very difficult conditions, worked non-stop since yesterday afternoon to save the miners who were trapped in the shaft of the Zenica mine. Their engagement contributed to avoiding an even greater loss of life, and we should all acknowledge them for that - emphasized Nikšić.

He pointed out that this accident is another reminder of how difficult and dangerous mining is, and how small all investments and support provided to mines are compared to what miners give to our homeland.

- Citizens of BiH have once again shown great solidarity, as help in rescue efforts was offered from all parts of BiH from the first moment of the accident. Among other things, the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, called me this morning and offered all kinds of assistance he could provide in rescuing the miners - said Nikšić.

He thanked everyone who called and offered help, adding that he hopes a lesson will be learned from this tragedy.
