(Patria) - I believe that the situation in BiH will not be resolved without sanctioning those who brought BiH into this state, said SDP leader Nermin Nikšić, responding to a question regarding the possible imposition of sanctions on those who undermine the constitutional order of BiH, in the context of the visit of Gabriel Escobar, the US envoy.

"They see the offered hand as weakness, those who clearly work to undermine the constitutional order and territorial integrity of BiH, regardless of what they say, so I am speaking about their deeds. We all had the opportunity when sanctions were hanging in the air and when we thought they would come, and Dodik went to Vučić in Serbia, they held a press conference where he completely backtracked, three days passed, and he became worse than he was before. People here do not accept such behavior.

It is evident that they will not change on their own. It is hard to expect that they will suddenly become cooperative. I would be much happier if we had a state where the institutions of the system function and act against all those who violate the legal system of BiH, regardless of which political party they are from," said Nikšić.

Denis Bećirović, vice president of the SDP, said that the issue of sanctions is now a question of whether Milorad Dodik has a green light to undermine peace in BiH or not.

"Key EU countries must show that he must be stopped and that he cannot break the international peace agreement with impunity. That message is definitely needed now by the people in BiH, because the primary interest of all citizens and peoples is peace and security," said Bećirović.
