Nikšić with Soreca: Commitment to the European path and functionality of institutions, while Sarajevo Airport remains leaderless!

(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić today at the seat of the Government of the Federation of BiH in Sarajevo spoke with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Luigi Soreca. The main topics of the meeting were Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, reform priorities, and infrastructure projects and investments.

During the talks, a joint commitment and work on accelerating reforms that open Bosnia and Herzegovina's path towards the European Union were confirmed. Ambassador Soreca expressed regret that at today's session of the Council of Ministers of BiH, another opportunity for Bosnia and Herzegovina to move closer to the European Union was missed.

Prime Minister Nikšić emphasized the commitment of the Government of the Federation of BiH to reform priorities and fulfilling obligations, as well as strengthening the functionality of institutions, with the aim of bringing our country closer to the European Union.

The interlocutors also discussed the implementation of infrastructure projects, among which is Corridor Vc, one of the main infrastructure projects in the Federation of BiH. Prime Minister Nikšić pointed out that road infrastructure and the construction of Corridor Vc are a key commitment of the Government of the Federation of BiH and a vital interest of all citizens in this country.

The topic of the meeting was also state property, especially in the context of investments that are on hold due to uncoordinated positions. The interlocutors agreed that they have the same goal: to ensure conditions for new investments and create a favorable business environment.

"Our interest is to invest and build, not to change ownership while respecting the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH and the High Representative in BiH. In the Federation, we are not seeking to transfer ownership of property from the state, but to use it for general social purposes," said the Prime Minister.

During the meeting, the interlocutors also exchanged information on the accession of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina to SEPA, the single euro payments area. Ambassador Soreca pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina is very close to submitting the request, and that certain steps on that path need to be taken by the entities as well. Prime Minister Nikšić emphasized the firm commitment of the Government of the Federation of BiH to fulfill its part of the obligations in the shortest possible time.

Ambassador Soreca stated that the Delegation of the European Union to BiH continues to work for the benefit of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that regardless of obstacles, it remains a partner on its European path, investments, and reform projects.

Although the official statement contains no information on whether the interlocutors also discussed the functioning of Sarajevo International Airport, which has been leaderless since Friday, as the acting director Sanin Ramezić and three of the five members of the Supervisory Board are under restrictive measures.

The Government of the FBiH has not yet made any decision that would enable the normal functioning of the SIA.

Alongside Nikšić at the meeting was also the Minister for Displaced Persons and Refugees, Nerin Dizdar, one of Nikšić's closest associates in both the Government and the SDP.
