Nikšić with Mennuti on activities to establish special departments of the Supreme Court and Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of BiH

(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić met today at the seat of the Government of the Federation of BiH in Sarajevo with the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the United States of America to our country Deborah Mennuti.

The meeting summarized the activities undertaken to establish special departments of the Supreme Court and the Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of BiH, with the aim of implementing the Law on Combating Corruption and Organized Crime in the FBiH.

The Federal Prime Minister reiterated on this occasion the firm commitment of the current Government to fight corruption, which, as he said, is one of the two priority goals of the Government. He reminded that the Law on Combating Corruption and Organized Crime in the FBiH was adopted during his first term in 2014.

- Our key goals are to make these two special departments for combating corruption and crime operational as soon as possible and to adopt reform fiscal laws. The Government of the Federation will continue to provide support for the operationalization of these activities, which are being worked on by a specially formed working group - emphasized Nikšić.

Mennuti expressed satisfaction with the activities of the working group so far, as well as with the partnership with the team of the Government of the Federation in the process of establishing special departments.

- Significant progress has been made since last October. Locations for the accommodation of special departments have been identified, and the process of filling positions for judges and prosecutors has begun - said Mennuti.

Prime Minister Nikšić emphasized that the Government of the FBiH provides full support to institutions so that the special departments become operational as soon as possible.

- We are all on this task. Recently, we have seen good synergy between the judiciary and the Federal Agency for Management of Confiscated Property. The Government of the FBiH will continue to support all activities so that we get the federal USKOK as soon as possible - said Prime Minister Nikšić.

Today's meeting was also attended by representatives of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), the Federal Agency for Management of Confiscated Property, and the working group formed with the aim of implementing activities towards the establishment of special departments of the Supreme Court and the Prosecutor's Office of the FBiH.
