Nikšić with Ambassador of Palestine: Readiness to accept children expressed

(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić met today at the
headquarters of the Government of the Federation of BiH in Sarajevo with the Ambassador of Palestine to Bosnia and Herzegovina Rezeq Namoor. Federal Minister of Displaced Persons and Refugees Nerin Dizdar also attended the meeting.

Prime Minister Nikšić told the Palestinian ambassador that he sympathizes with and expresses understanding towards the Palestinian people and the situation their civilians are in.

As he said, not so long ago, our citizens and our families were also exposed to brutal
shelling and suffering. He also expressed readiness to provide assistance, and informed the
ambassador about the recently adopted conclusion of the Government of the Federation of BiH, which expressed readiness to temporarily accept unaccompanied children housed in SOS Children's Village from Rafah, Palestine, into the Federation of BiH.

The Federal Prime Minister and Minister Dizdar particularly emphasized that the aforementioned conclusion will be implemented in accordance with valid international and BiH laws, and exclusively and only if the decision to relocate unaccompanied Palestinian children is made by the competent authorities in Palestine.

Ambassador Namoor thanked the Government of the Federation of BiH for its readiness to help the Palestinian people, adding that the final decision on this matter rests with the leadership of his country.

During the conversation, the Palestinian ambassador informed Prime Minister Nikšić and Minister Dizdar that currently in the Gaza Strip, out of a total of 2.3 million inhabitants, 1.5 million are displaced and homeless. He said that 5,200 people have been killed, about 16,000 have been seriously wounded, and that according to estimates, 1,500 deceased are under the rubble.

The Palestinian ambassador to BiH also informed the hosts about the very poor health situation in his country, where there is a danger of infection, and highlighted the fact that the number of trucks with humanitarian aid that have entered his country is only sufficient for the needs of one settlement.

The ambassador thanked all the people in BiH who, through yesterday's peaceful gatherings, showed support for his people, as well as those who express support for the Palestinian people and offer assistance to the Embassy through daily phone calls.
