Nikšić: A much bigger problem is the abuse of OSA for political purposes

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Chairman of the Joint Commission for Oversight of the Intelligence-Security Agency Nermin Nikšić confirmed that the Commission session is scheduled for Wednesday. 

"We have serious complaints about what is being done within the agency and it will certainly be discussed at the Commission. The appointment of the director is another matter. We received a proposal from the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, the Joint Commission gives its opinion, which is not binding for the Council of Ministers," said Nikšić.

He added that he does not want to prejudge what the Joint Commission will say.

"I see that there is an agreement between certain political entities because it is important who will get some other positions and that they are being traded. As far as I am concerned, I think my position is completely clear. As the Chairman of the Commission, I will advocate the positions I have advocated in public. I do not want to be the one who corrects one illegality with another. The man offered a diploma, whether it is valid or not is not for the commission to investigate, there are other institutions for that. A much bigger problem is the abuse of OSA for political purposes, settling scores with political opponents, whether from SDA, within SDA or outside, including this last affair. Who do you think could have obtained that video surveillance recording, and now we are pretending not to know. I have been exposed to lies and unprincipled accusations by suitable journalists who get that data from OSA a thousand times, one time I work for SNSD, the second time for HDZ, the third for Russians, and I don't know for whom anymore," said Nikšić.
