Nikšić withdraws 'his' Election Law, Arnaut proposes solution for Gabela border crossing

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - SDP representative in the House of Representatives of the State Parliament Nermin Nikšić withdrew his proposal for amendments to the BiH Election Law today, and it will not be on the agenda of the session. 

Naša stranka representative Damir Arnaut proposed an initiative to the Council of Ministers to, within 10 days of adopting the initiative, convert the Gabela local border crossing with Croatian authorities into an international border crossing. 

Arnaut said there is no time for committee phases nor is there a need for it. 

He explained that children in that border area have problems getting to school and take a detour, and converting the Gabela border crossing would make it much easier for them to get to school. 

We recall, the first day of school for children from Gabela Polje and nearby settlements who attend school in the neighboring Republic of Croatia brought only difficulties. Since there is only an elementary school up to the 4th grade in that place, most students continue their education in nearby Metković. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the local border crossing is closed, and students now travel 11 kilometers to school via Doljani, instead of two.
