Nikšić: The departure of young people is the biggest problem of this country

The Forum of Youth SDP BiH today launched the campaign "We are staying here", writes the Patria News Agency.

More than 700 young people from all over BiH participated in today's protest march from Baščaršija to the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

At the end of the march, the youth of SDP gathered in front of the BiH Parliament building to symbolically remind the ruling structures that they are not sufficiently addressing the problems of youth emigration, of which nearly 80,000 have left BiH in the past few years. 

After the protest march, the Program Convention of the Forum of Youth was held, where the Youth Plan 2018-2022 was presented, clearly defining solutions to youth problems related to employment, education, housing, as well as improving the status of youth in culture and sports, social activism, free time, community life, and the fight against nationalism.

- Our imperative is that we never go to elections divided again. Therefore, what is happening with the gathering of left-wing parties is not insignificant. I ask you to be honest in building the destroyed bridges of trust. It is time for those in columns to leave the positions they have occupied as if they were their family inheritance. 

Dedicate yourselves to that task. Do not let it be a burden or beneath your dignity to explain to people why it is important to remove those who are ruining our country from power – said the president of SDP, Nermin Nikšić, to the youth at the convention, who participated in the "We are staying here" march together with the youth.

The president of the Forum of Youth SDP, Damir Filipović, stated that there are enough people who are living their American dream in BiH, and that it is time for things to change for the better.

- I am angry at my generation and the generations to come, who remain silent, living in the delusion that all this will pass on its own one day, without raising their voice. I am angry at the region that interferes too much in the relations within BiH. I am angry at those who have pushed young people to the margins of society and who have allowed 57 percent of young people to be part of the poor population. I am angry at every promise that has not been fulfilled – said Filipović.

The vice-president of SDP BiH and head of the Working Group for the Development of the Youth Program, Lana Prlić, said that the eight policies contained in the plan are not unachievable things, but clear and precise goals aimed at enabling young people to live a dignified life in their own country.

As part of this action, organized by the Forum of Youth SDP BiH, a concert by Zabranjeno pušenje will be held tonight at 9:00 PM at Club Saraj, with free admission for all interested parties.
