Nikšić on March 1st: The referendum was a confirmation of BiH's thousand-year existence

The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, sent congratulations to all citizens of our country on the occasion of March 1st, Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

- On this day in 1992, by going to the referendum, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina opted to live in an independent and sovereign state where everyone would be equal, thereby confirming the thousand-year continuity of existence, tradition, and history of our country. Recognizing the clearly expressed will of the citizens, the Council of Ministers of the European Union made a decision on the international recognition of the Republic of BiH on April 6, 1992, in Brussels, an unavoidable fact on the political map of Europe and the world.

Our country has gone through the most turbulent period in its history since then, but it has remained and survived, despite the efforts of those who did not love or want it as free, independent, and sovereign. Despite everything, I am convinced that this day will truly become a holiday for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a day that will unite, not divide, people on a religious, national, or any other basis.

Therefore, I wish you much happiness, health, and success in life in these, not at all easy times, with the hope that the time ahead will bring a better and higher quality of life for all citizens of our sovereign and independent state of Bosnia and Herzegovina - says Prime Minister Nikšić's congratulatory message.
