Nikšić: Not only communists were delegates of ZAVNOBiH

A formal session of the expanded Presidency of SDP BiH was held in Sarajevo on the occasion of November 25, BiH Statehood Day, reports the Patria News Agency.

Nermin Nikšić, the president of SDP, emphasized that it is impossible to hold such a ceremony without remembering Josip Broz Tito, a man who marked an era, a man who did not shy away from calling things by their real names and decisively confronting world superpowers when their interests clashed with the interests of the citizens.

- It is regrettable that 70 years after Tito and his partisans defeated the members of these ideologies, tonight in the BiH Parliament, deputies are deciding whether a Chetnik duke will be appointed to the state agency for higher education - Nikšić said.

He further stated that these days we are marking the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

- That document brought us peace, but it solved almost nothing else in BiH, and it especially did not resolve our internal relations between the peoples and citizens of BiH. Those relations were resolved in Mrkonjić Grad on November 25, 1943. ZAVNOBiH resolved it, or rather, the 243 delegates who, in BiH occupied by fascists and Nazis at the time, had the vision, courage, and boldness to make the decisions they made. That is why the path we should take in the future is the path of ZAVNOBiH, not the path of Dayton - Nikšić emphasized.

Underlining that it was clearly decided at the session that the peoples of BiH want their country, which is neither Serbian nor Croatian nor Muslim, but Serbian, Croatian, and Muslim, to be a free and fraternal Bosnia and Herzegovina in which full equality and parity of all Serbs, Muslims, and Croats are ensured.

- The values of ZAVNOBiH must not be ideologically colored. This is very important if we want to build the future BiH on them. Not only communists were delegates of ZAVNOBiH, nor can what was decided there be linked solely and exclusively to the Communist Party. It was a decision of the citizens of BiH, of all nations and all ideological beliefs united at the time in the fight against fascism - Nikšić added.
