Nikšić: Electoral Law Already Agreed Between SDA and HDZ BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – A meeting between the presidents of SDA and HDZ BiH, Bakir Izetbegović and Dragan Čović, will be held on Wednesday, who are beginning negotiations on the BiH Election Law. Čović has linked the issue of the Election Law, as well as certain appointments, to the process of forming the FBiH Government. So far, SDA has not managed to resist Čović's request, so the name of the FBiH President has never been proposed to appoint a new FBiH Government, which is already in a truncated composition due to the lack of two ministers. 

Čović stated that he will conduct negotiations with SDA and include other parliamentary parties next year. The president of SDP BiH, Nermin Nikšić, is not surprised by this stance of the president of HDZ BiH. 

“Bakir Izetbegović and Dragan Čović agreed on the issue of the Election Law back in 2014, and Čović has said several times that he was deceived by Izetbegović for no reason. I assume in which direction the agreement on the Election Law will go, they will strain again, we are defending interests. When HDZ and SNSD speak against the state of BiH, it pleases the ear of their average voter and they like to hear it. On the other hand, SDA, which agrees with HDZ and SNSD on everything, then pretends to defend that state from that HDZ and SNSD because it pleases the ear of SDA voters. They have already agreed, it is only a question of how to announce what they have agreed upon, because it is a classic betrayal of the interests of the citizens of BiH by SDA,” Nikšić believes. 

He pointed out that SDA has handed over the state to SNSD and HDZ by allowing them to have eight (4 each) out of 15 delegates in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, i.e., 13 (HDZ) in the House of Peoples of the Federal Parliament. 

“The only one without whom the Federal Government cannot be formed is HDZ, and then someone from SDA calls for us to resist and unite,” Nikšić concluded.
