Nikšić: The appointment of the FUP director is a political issue

(Patria) - A meeting of the federal coalition will be held on Thursday, and according to the federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, it is a "regular meeting" of the HDZ and SDP, which they have held before, only they did not inform the media about it.

Appearing on FTV, Nikšić also spoke about the appointment of the Director of the Federal Police Administration, on which he expressed very strange views.

"Of course, everything is a political issue for us, so let's not argue or lie about it. Ideally, we would have a law, we would have criteria, and the best candidate would be chosen according to the law. We will see who will be the director of the FUP," said Nikšić.

However, what is problematic in Nikšić's statement is that there is a Law on Internal Affairs of the FBiH, which clearly stipulates who elects the director of the FUP. The procedure for electing members of the Independent Board, which is responsible for conducting the application procedure, is underway. However, with such a statement, Nikšić confirmed that the Independent Board is clearly not independent in its work and that politics will have a say in the appointment of the FUP director.

"You saw what happened when a judge of the Constitutional Court of BiH was elected, there were even decisions of the Constitutional Court, and whether Vukoja voted against the state. Why should we suspect that someone who is chosen based on references, and even political support, let's not lie, will not do their job well," said Nikšić.

He noted that the director of the FUP cannot be a Bosniak because the Minister of the FBiH Ministry of Internal Affairs is also a Bosniak, and that the director can be a Croat, a Serb, or from other ethnic groups.

Speaking about the Law on the Southern Interconnection, Nikšić said that the "positions have been brought closer". He confirmed that one of the options is a branch of BH-Gas in Mostar.

"Just as we have numerous branches of other companies, I don't see what is problematic about having one in Mostar that will be responsible for gas transport via the Southern Interconnection," said the federal Prime Minister.
