Nikšić and Marjanović held meetings with the new and old majority in the KS Assembly

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Ahead of the KS Assembly session, which is scheduled to be held on January 16, there is uncertainty whether there will be a quorum for its holding if the deputies of the new majority SDA, SBB, and DF do not attend the session. In that case, Sarajevo Canton would very quickly find itself in a difficult situation because the decision on temporary financing for the first three months of 2020 has not been adopted.

Independent deputy in the KS Assembly Damir Marjanović addressed the issue on the social network Facebook, explaining that there is a possibility of an agreement.

"Sarajevo Canton is on the verge of blockade. Some will say that this is a deliberate political move by someone, and some will say that it is due to non-compliance with procedures and ignorance of the law. For the ordinary citizen, it doesn't really matter, but it matters to them that conditions are created where salaries arrive on time, where social benefits are regularly paid, where the functioning of the healthcare system is not jeopardized, where the implementation of initiated projects is not jeopardized, where their basic and human rights are not threatened. We are approaching the middle of January, and now, if nothing is done, all of the above could be threatened from February onwards, and Sarajevo Canton could truly be in a blockade! Then it will not matter who is right and who is not, then citizens will be able to say with a clear conscience that they are hostages of political bickering and the fight for power.

However, there are chances to avoid such a thing, and we have no right not to try to use them, even if we appear naive and politically immature. Therefore, two independent, autonomous (call them what you will) Damirs initiated two separate meetings today with representatives of the leading parties of the two foursomes. In these separate meetings, it was hinted that an agreement is possible. Accordingly, a joint meeting has been scheduled, which will be held before that infamous January 16, and at it, we will see if our optimism today is also justified. We hope that reason and responsibility for the citizens will be what prevails on the political scale, and that on January 16, in the assembly hall, we will make decisions that will prevent the blockade of the capital city. It seems that we need so little for that to happen," concluded Marjanović.
