Sarajevo Water and Sewerage Report for 2016 Not Adopted, GRAS Rehabilitation Plan Supported

The Sarajevo Canton Assembly, with 11 votes in favor, eight abstentions, and eight against, did not adopt the 2016 Report of KJKP Vodovod i kanalizacija, reports the Patria agency.

During the discussion led by the representatives, it was highlighted that it is unacceptable for Sarajevo to be left without water in the 21st century. On the other hand, several representatives stated that the problems in VIK have not existed since yesterday, but are the result of the past 20 years.

Representative Rasim Smajić stated that the young management, led by Nezir Hadžić, has done a lot in the past two years, and that water reductions in Dobrinja, the largest settlement in Novi Grad, have ceased.

Since the report was not adopted, the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton and the ministers will hold a session of the KS Government and propose a temporary chairperson for the company's Assembly, after which the representatives will make a decision.

- Projects and obtaining loans from the EBRD are underway. I ask you not to leave the company without a management structure. The management remains, the Supervisory Board remains, but we will propose a temporary chairperson for the company's Assembly - said Konaković.

Konaković stated that another criticism is that the Assembly submits the report only once a year and that it should be more frequent, considering the company's situation.

Meanwhile, the representatives are considering the 45-point rehabilitation plan for KJKP GRAS.

After the discussion, the rehabilitation plan was adopted with 27 votes.
