Suspension or dismissal of Goran Zubac not considered

The Independent Board of the Parliament of BiH at today's session did not consider a decision on the dismissal or suspension of Goran Zubac, director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, against whom the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment for negligent performance of duties, when during the demonstrations on February 7 and the attack on the Presidency of BiH he refused to react.

This confirmed the reporting of the Bosnian news agency Patria, which already yesterday published that the suspension would not happen due to an insufficient number of votes. Incidentally, the president of the Independent Board, Žiko Krunić, as reported by the media, said after the session that he does not wish to comment on the indictment against Zubac.

As stated by the member of the Independent Board for the portal klix.ba, Enes Obralija, this item was not on the agenda and nearly an hour was spent on determining the agenda in relation to this item. The next session should be scheduled in seven to ten days.

Incidentally, sources of Patria from the Council of Ministers of BiH state that Zubac has strong political support, especially from the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Sredoje Nović. According to Patria's findings, Zubac has not been coming to work for several days, reportedly on a short vacation. The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has still not commented on the possible arrest of Zubac, reports NAP.

As officially announced, however, the members of the Independent Board concluded that the competent institutions in BiH will be requested to, in the shortest possible time, submit all relevant documentation related to the violent protests of citizens and events that occurred in Sarajevo on February 7, 2014, in order to hold a discussion on them at the next session of the Board with the aim of reaching certain conclusions.

The Independent Board of the Parliament of BiH consists of Enes Obralija, Ilma Jusufbašić-Mehić, Adisa Begić, Nikola Džambas, Mate Miletić, Mato Jozić, Ljubomir Kuravica, Miroslav Škorić and Žiko Krunić.
