Even the confrontation of witnesses did not reveal how Dženan Memić's body was moved

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The trial of Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović continued at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo for a serious criminal offense against public traffic safety and for the criminal offense of failing to provide assistance to a person injured in a traffic accident and the criminal offense of obstructing evidence, in the case of the death of Dženan Memić, reports Patria agency.

Velibor Ristivojević and Elvedin Boja, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, who arrived at Velika aleja on the night of February 8, 2016, after a report of a traffic accident, and Sefedin Škrijelj, a traffic inspector who conducted the investigation on the night of February 8-9, 2016, appeared as witnesses.

Lawyer Rusmir Karkin first questioned witness Ristivojević about the events and people who arrived at Velika aleja on the night of February 8.

He said that he and his colleague Boja arrived around 10:45 PM, where they found colleagues from the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina (DKPT) and Alisa Mutap, who was sitting in the trunk of a car, and the injured Dženan Memić.

Ristivojević told lawyer Karkin that he heard inspector Škrijelj telling prosecutor Meris Ćato that Alisa Mutap had problems with her ex-boyfriend Mirza Ploskić.

Prosecutor Ćato asked Ristivojević to gather information about the event from residents in nearby residential buildings, but no one opened their doors.

Recalling the fateful night, the witness said that Samir Mujagić also arrived at the scene and asked for someone from the criminal investigation department to be called. Three other people were present at the scene, and the witness believes they were sent to find Ploskić.

Ristivojević reiterated that he saw Dženan Memić's body on the ground near a tree on the left side from the direction of Ilidža towards Vrelo Bosne. He explained that he did not approach the body, but saw that it was facing the ground with its chest, while the lower part of the body was at the back.

Ristivojević said that Alisa Mutap's father, Zijo Mutap, arrived at the scene before the ambulance.

- He asked what happened, she said that a car hit them - said Ristivojević.

When asked if Zijo Mutap inquired about the injured Dženan, the witness replied that he did not. He also said that he did not provide any details to Alisa's father.

Lawyer Karkin again asked the witness if anyone had moved or photographed Dženan's body before the ambulance arrived.

- I responsibly claim that no one photographed him, and my colleague Elvedin Boja approached him and turned his head so that the blood would not suffocate him. Dženan was showing signs of life, moving his arms and legs.

He confirmed that he noticed traces of paint and glass fragments on the asphalt, but could not remember how many there were because he neither "bought nor counted them." Also, this police officer has no information about the subsequent finding of traces at the scene.

The next witness was traffic investigator Sefedin Škrijelj, who said that police officer Josip Barić was informed by Zijo Mutap that Alisa and Dženan were injured by Mirza Ploskić.

- Josip Barić arrived at the scene and told the prosecutor everything - said the witness, adding that he had already met with Barić at the Clinical Center University of Sarajevo (KCUS). Barić was tasked with collecting all the clothing of the injured for forensic examination.

Škrijelj said that prosecutor Ćato asked for these individuals to be checked. He also confirmed that a green Renault Clio vehicle was seized, but he does not know if it was examined because he was no longer working on that case.

Škrijelj said that Nebojša Veljović, a member of the DKPT, told him that he had photographed Dženan Memić's body, which he reported to the shift leader. The prosecutor was then informed, and the photograph was requested to be seized. Apparently, it was only one photograph.

During his testimony, Škrijelj stated that no contact point between the vehicle and the pedestrian was determined during the investigation.

He confirmed that he took a video recording with an official video camera lasting one minute and 30 seconds, which was deposited in the archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, but which no one requested, although he listed it in the report on the conducted investigation.

Škrijelj said that he found traces of blood, plastic, and glass at the scene, which were scattered over several meters.

After Škrijelj's testimony, Karkin simultaneously brought Boja and Ristivojević into the courtroom to determine the position of Dženan's body.

Boja stated under oath that Dženan was lying on his back and that he only turned his head to prevent him from being suffocated by blood. Witness Ristivojević admitted that he did not approach Dženan's body, but saw that it was in a different position. Both emphasized that Dženan was showing signs of life by twitching his arms and legs, so there is a possibility that the body moved as a result.

The witnesses also requested to be confronted with the witness who took the photograph to determine the exact position.

At the next main hearing, which will be held on March 19, medical, mechanical, and traffic experts will testify and present their findings.
