Independent Board will not suspend Zubac due to politics

The Independent Board of the BiH Parliament will consider the indictment against Goran Zubac, Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, tomorrow, but it seems that nothing will come of the suspension, let alone dismissal, the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) has learned from sources in the Independent Board.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Zubac for dereliction of duty, when he refused to react during the demonstrations on February 7 and the attack on the BiH Presidency. The indictment is awaiting confirmation by the BiH Court.

However, as an unnamed member of the Board told us, it is quite certain that there will not be enough votes for a suspension. This is confirmed by the fact that the chairman Živko Krunić did not immediately initiate the suspension procedure.

- Although it should be an independent body, it acts on political orders. It is known exactly which party delegated which member of the Independent Board, and they will act as their political bosses order them. This means that, most likely, nothing will come of the suspension, at least until the indictment is confirmed - our source states. They will, it seems, hold a discussion and inform the Council of Ministers of BiH about everything, asking for their statement.

At the same time, sources from the Council of Ministers of BiH state that Zubac has strong political support, especially from the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Sredoje Nović.

Otherwise, Zubac, according to Patria's findings, has not been coming to work for several days, allegedly on a short vacation. The BiH Prosecutor's Office has not yet commented on Zubac's possible arrest, NAP reports.

The Independent Board of the BiH Parliament consists of Enes Obralija, Ilma Jusufbašić-Mehić, Adisa Begić, Nikola Džambas, Mate Miletić, Mato Jozić, Ljubomir Kuravica, Miroslav Škorić, and Žiko Krunić.
