Independent Board to Open Applications on January 29: Igor Marić Applied for FUP Director, Vahidin Šahinpašić for Deputy

(Patria) - The session of the Independent Board of the FBiH Parliament is scheduled for January 29, and a total of two applications have been received for the director and deputy director of the Federal Police Administration. Igor Marić from the Police Administration of the MUP of West Herzegovina Canton applied for the director position, while Vahidin Šahinpašić, a long-time employee of SIPA, applied for the deputy position.

Given that the competition closed on Saturday, it is possible that some applications were sent by mail and should arrive by Thursday.

The Independent Board will open the applications on Thursday, determine if they meet all the competition requirements, and schedule interviews with the candidates, after which the lists will be sent to the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, which will further delegate them to the FBiH Government for appointment or rejection of the list.

While the process of electing the director and deputy director of the FUP is underway, the promotion of five police officers has been completed in this police agency, two of whom are retiring.

Although the Independent Board sent a conclusion to the FUP regarding this promotion, the acting director of the FUP, Enes Zeljković, did not suspend the procedure.

Incidentally, Vahidin Munjić is retiring at the end of this month, and the FBiH Ministry of Internal Affairs has not yet initiated procedures for conducting disciplinary proceedings.

Mustafa Selmanović, head of the Special Unit, who is also on the Police Board, and Zeljković are also retiring.

If the Independent Board fails to complete this competition, and the Government does not appoint new leadership, the FUP could face serious legal problems, as it is questionable who will manage this police agency going forward.

Observers from the US Embassy and the EU Delegation also attended the last session of the Independent Board, and the decision to announce the competition was made unanimously.
