Independent Bloc: International organisations confirmed that the elections were not fair and transparent

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Independent Bloc welcomes the report of independent observers in Europe, warning that the right of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to freely think and vote for their representatives in elections is endangered, the Independent Bloc's statement said.

The critical report of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), they add, notes that public services were abused and used for specific political purposes.

Senad Šepić, president of the Independent Bloc, says the report confirms the claims that the elections were not fair and transparent.

"Unfortunately, reputable international organisations that are valid to assess elections, in their report, confirm the catastrophic situation that existed on October 7, 2018, as well as before the holding
of the elections. Our partners in Europe, who insist on democratic standards and principles, should also get involved in order to change such an electoral system. Aware of the electoral system, in which the ruling parties control the entire process, we proposed before the elections the introduction of electronic voting and other technical improvements. Unfortunately, the ruling parties rejected and blocked this, because they know that in the existing electoral system they have absolute control. In the next electoral cycle, we must have a new improved system, and therefore I appeal to international partners to exert pressure so that
the development of democracy and human rights in BiH is unimpeded, and so that the right of citizens to vote for their representatives in elections freely, without pressure and falsification of election results, is also protected," Šepić said.
