Stickers Gone: Drivers in HNK Cannot Register Vehicles

Drivers from the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton cannot extend vehicle registrations because the Ministry of Internal Affairs of this canton has run out of stickers that are affixed to car windshields as proof of vehicle registration.

One of the drivers from Mostar told the BiH news agency Patria that he has been driving without a registration certificate for several days because the Ministry of Internal Affairs of HNK cannot issue one without stickers, which they currently do not have.

- I paid about 530 KM for vehicle registration properly, but I haven't been able to get a registration certificate for several days because the police don't have stickers - said this driver.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of HNK expects that the stickers might arrive only on Monday.

- I planned to go to Zagreb over the weekend, but obviously, I won't be able to go with my car because I cannot cross the border without a registration certificate – added this driver.

The Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange (IDDEEA) had already warned the Council of Ministers of BiH that this problem could occur.

The Council tasked the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH to prepare a proposal for amending the law based on which drivers would be issued certificates replacing sticker labels during vehicle registration until the sticker procurement process is completed. However, this law has not yet been amended, so drivers in HNK have run into problems.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton told Patria that they still have sufficient sticker supplies.
