Nešić on Frontex agreement: When we want to, we can do anything

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at today's session, adopted the composition of the negotiation team and the basis for conducting negotiations for the signing of the Agreement with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX).

The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, submitted this important document for procedure at the beginning of the month, which is the basis for negotiations with FRONTEX on a final agreement on future cooperation.

Minister Nešić expressed satisfaction that the Council of Ministers of BiH adopted the text of the agreement on negotiations with Frontex, which will improve the security situation in BiH.

"This shows that when we want to, we can do anything. It is important that Europe does not see us as a black security hole, and this agreement is proof that everything can be resolved in accordance with the constitutional competencies of BiH and the entities. The issue of collective security must not be a political issue or a playground for our bickering, and I am glad that my colleagues from the Federation of BiH acted rationally and understood the importance of Frontex," assessed Minister Nešić.

He emphasizes that this is a step forward in the fight against organized crime, as well as illegal migrations.

"This is also our signal to the EU that BiH is ready to be part of the collective security system and that it does not want to be an oasis for criminals. It is important that this is also a message to investors that they can count on the security of their capital. When an investor wants to invest their money somewhere, they first ask about the security situation and the rule of law there. By taking steps towards becoming part of the European security space, we best present our will to be part of Europe and its standards in other segments as well," stated Nešić.
