Nenadić with Novalić: Distribution of IMF funds to cantons still pending

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalić discussed today at the headquarters of the Federal Government in Sarajevo with a delegation of the Government of Sarajevo Canton, led by cantonal Prime Minister Mario Nenadić, which included cantonal ministers of finance Jasmin Halebić, economy Draško Jeličić, and transport Adi Kalem.

This was another in a series of regular meetings between the federal Prime Minister and representatives of the Government of Sarajevo Canton. The delegation of Sarajevo Canton was interested in the distribution of funds from the International Monetary Fund to cantons, specifically to Sarajevo Canton.

Prime Minister Nenadić explained that Sarajevo Canton expects these funds as it is a way to mitigate some of the consequences caused by the new coronavirus pandemic crisis on the economy.

Prime Minister Novalić informed the guests that he expects decisions on the distribution of IMF funds intended for cantons and local self-government units, municipalities, and cities to be made at the next session of the FBiH Government.

The meeting also discussed problems in whose resolution the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina can participate, such as assistance to tourism, which has also felt the severe consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as infrastructure projects.

The federal Prime Minister reiterated the great interest of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the construction of the First Transversal in Sarajevo, adding that there are allocated funds for this purpose with which the FBiH participates in the realization of this important project.
