Nenad Čanak Calls for Ban on Panel with Mladic's Security Chief

NOVI SAD, (Patria) - The League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina has called on the police and all competent authorities to prevent the holding of a panel announced on social networks for October 4 in Novi Sad, where Branislav Puhalo, the longtime head of security for war criminal Ratko Mladic, has been announced as a guest.

- We call on the authorities in this country to finally begin strict enforcement of the Law on Prohibition of Manifestations of Neo-Nazi or Fascist Organizations and Associations and Prohibition of Use of Neo-Nazi or Fascist Symbols and Emblems.

We remind the police, the prosecutor's office and all other competent authorities that this law also applies to "any organized or spontaneous public appearance in which hatred or intolerance towards members of any nation, national minority, church or religious community is incited, encouraged or spread."

The same law prohibits "the production, reproduction, storage, presentation, dissemination or any other use of symbols that propagate or justify the ideas, actions or deeds of persons convicted of war crimes."

Therefore, there has never been, nor should there ever be, any reason to tolerate the organization of panels in his honor, or chanting "Knife, Wire, Srebrenica," carrying banners, shirts, caps and badges with his image, and presenting him as some kind of hero, soldier and victim.

And it is the right moment for the police and all authorities to remove from the streets and prosecute all those who do so - said LSV leader Nenad Čanak.
