British soldiers training in Canada will soon demonstrate their military skills by shooting at targets called "Bosnian RPG". A Canadian government document regarding the procurement of humanoid targets shows that national names were used, shocking the Bosnian-Herzegovinian, especially Bosniak community in Canada, reports the Patria news agency, according to a statement from the Institute for Genocide Research Canada.
The Bosnian-Herzegovinian, especially Bosniak community is shocked by the information that Canada, a member of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is humiliating Bosnians and Herzegovinians, particularly Bosniaks in Canada, most of whom are victims of aggression and genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by naming humanoid military targets with the national name „Bosnian RPG“.
In the year marking the 20th anniversary of the largest crime since World War II in Europe, the genocide in Srebrenica, recognized by both international courts, confirmed by the Canadian Parliament through a unanimously adopted special resolution, and verified by a permanent exhibition at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, naming humanoid military targets with a national name is a humiliation and discrimination primarily against the more than 30,000 Bosniaks in Canada, surviving victims of great-nationalist, aggressive genocidal policies, ideologies, and practices.
Forcibly expelled from their homeland, Bosniaks found refuge in Canada, believing that through its social system of the „Cultural Mosaic” it truly protects every citizen and every group regardless of nation, religion, and culture. Accepting Canada as their second homeland, Bosniaks thought they had forever protected their basic human, national, and spiritual rights in a democratic country.
Unfortunately, the discriminatory act of naming humanoid military targets has once again returned surviving victims to the terrible time of aggression and genocide, to fear and worry. Bosniaks in Canada again feel humiliated, disenfranchised, discriminated against. This inhumane naming of humanoid military targets has particularly affected young Bosniaks born in Canada.
And although Bosniak and Bosnian-Herzegovinian organizations in Canada and North America immediately reacted and sent a protest letter to the Canadian Minister of Defense demanding the urgent withdrawal of the discriminatory name for humanoid military targets and a public apology to surviving victims of genocide, Bosniaks remain in shock and fear, believing that this unnecessary, inhumane act sends a negative message both to Bosniaks in Canada and all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Canada, as well as to citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who greatly valued the friendship between Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosniaks in Canada are not some foreign body to be humiliated in Canadian society, but rather its constructive part. By humiliating Bosniaks, the greatest Canadian social value, the „Cultural Mosaic“, is actually being humiliated.
