(Patria) - Federal Prime Minister and SDP BiH President Nermin Nikšić reacted to the statements of Milorad Dodik, who today, after a meeting with Dragan Čović and in his presence, said that FBiH should be divided into a "Muslim part and a Croatian part" and that these should be electoral units. Dragan Čović, who spoke after Dodik, did not react to these statements either, so it is clear that what is discussed behind closed doors, Dodik is tasked with publicly announcing. Because Čović's silence on such statements also shows the real desire of the HDZ president.
However, Nikšić directed his reaction exclusively at Dodik, but not at Čović, whom he did not even mention. As if it were some kind of Dodik's "one-man show", and not statements after an official meeting of Nikšić's two coalition partners.
Nikšić stated that "there will be no further divisions of Bosnia and Herzegovina."
"The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina shows that it is possible to build a system in which there is a place for everyone – Croats, Bosniaks, Serbs, and all other citizens. Unfortunately, this is not yet the case in the other entity, because the authorities in RS do not show the will or the ability to build institutions that equally belong to and equally treat all citizens.
Milorad Dodik, who held the position of entity president with significantly lower fiscal capacity than the Federation of BiH until the final decisions of the Court of BiH and the Central Election Commission, is trying to lecture about the functionality of the system. Statements about new divisions of Bosnia and Herzegovina are as realistic as his earlier announcements about not recognizing state institutions – the Constitutional Court of BiH, the Court of BiH, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the CEC, or SIPA.
Just as he himself admitted the existence of these institutions by submitting to the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina, so time will show that stories about divisions are just another episode of political theater. Every decision that confirms the rule of law, such as the revocation of the mandate of the entity president, represents a step forward towards a stronger, fairer, and more unified Bosnia and Herzegovina," Nikšić stated.
Nikšić's pale reaction shows that he does not want to spoil relations with Čović, with whom he manages all processes in the Federation of BiH. We will see the real intention of SDP after the BiH Election Law, as desired by HDZ, enters the procedure.
Although they reacted to much smaller things as the Trojka, this time it was absent, even though serious threats to the constitutional order of BiH were made by their coalition partners. One said it out loud, and the other, through his silence, clearly desires such a scenario.
