Nelson at BiH Presidency: US remains a partner to BiH

(Patria) - Chairman of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik and members of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović spoke with the Ambassador of the United States of America to BiH Eric Nelson.

The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries, BiH's activities on its European path, and the current political and economic situation in BiH. Members of the BiH Presidency thanked the US Ambassador once again for the contribution of the United States of America to stabilizing the situation in BiH, as well as for the support in the process of European integration. Speaking about European integration, members of the BiH Presidency expressed readiness to fulfill the 14 key priorities from the European Commission's Opinion, so that BiH obtains candidate status in the coming period.

An important topic of the meeting was also the improvement of economic cooperation between the two countries, which will be intensified by the upcoming signing of the Memorandum on Economic Cooperation between BiH and the USA. Modalities for combating the COVID-19 pandemic were also discussed. In this context, members of the BiH Presidency informed the US Ambassador about the efforts made by BiH institutions in defending against the pandemic and procuring vaccines for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They also informed Ambassador Nelson about activities to resolve the problem of illegal migrations in our region. On this path, BiH needs assistance to systematically and adequately resolve this current crisis, emphasized the members of the BiH Presidency.

Ambassador Nelson emphasized that the United States of America will continue to work as a partner to Bosnia and Herzegovina in implementing all necessary reforms that will enable a better life for the citizens of BiH. He invited the members of the BiH Presidency to maintain a leadership position in future steps towards faster implementation of the aforementioned reforms, with the aim of faster progress of our country towards its foreign policy goals.
