Illegitimate and Unconstitutional: Why the Council of Ministers is Blocked

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At the session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SDP representative Saša Magazinović asked why sessions of the Council of Ministers are not being held. He also inquired about the reason why the appointment of Mladen Božović as Minister of Human Rights was withdrawn.

“Is Božović no longer a candidate, or is some political trade-off being waited for, so that he can be appointed? We, as the SDP, stated what we think about that after the Commission, because we are against that appointment, as the candidate does not have sufficient knowledge,” said Magazinović.

When it comes to what Magazinović described as a quiet blockade of the work of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the SDP representative warned that the new convocation of the Council of Ministers has held only one session.

“In the previous term, the Council of Ministers held six regular sessions and one extraordinary session in the first month. This Council of Ministers, for some reason, is not holding sessions. Why it is blocked, we can see through the agenda,” said Magazinović.

Dragan Mektić (SDS) added that this Council of Ministers is not legitimate, as it was not formed in accordance with the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“One member of the Council of Ministers must be from among the Others. That member of the Council of Ministers is missing. I personally believe that all decisions that the Council of Ministers will make will be unconstitutional, that is, illegitimate,” said Mektić.
