He won't have Parliament's support, but Selak is already acting like it: I am already Security Minister, Krišto appointed me

(Patria) - The 5th session of the House of Representatives Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) for the preparation of the election of the Council of Ministers of BiH, which was postponed on Wednesday due to lack of quorum, has been scheduled for Monday, March 17, at 10 AM.

At this session, the proposal of the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, on the appointment of the BiH Minister of Security is to be considered. She proposed Goran Selak as a candidate from the SNSD quota, although he is the president of the Socialist Party of Srpska (SPS). He was proposed after Nenad Nešić was dismissed at the end of January and has been in custody since the end of December due to corruption.

Regardless of the opinion of this Commission, which is not binding for the House of Representatives of the BiH PA without whose confirmation there is no appointment, the procedure must be followed. Therefore, if the Commission session is not held tomorrow, the House of Representatives of the BiH PA will not consider Selak's appointment at tomorrow's session.

What is interesting is that Selak is already acting in the role of Minister of Security, telling the media yesterday that he is already a minister because Krišto appointed him, and he is "just waiting for confirmation from the House of Representatives of the BiH PA".

"For the public and citizens to know, I was proposed by Republika Srpska to be a minister in the Council of Ministers, and I am honored to be Republika Srpska's proposal. Also, I was appointed based on the Law on the Council of Ministers by the decision of Borjana Krišto. I am the Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers today. In accordance with the Law on the Council of Ministers, that decision must be confirmed in the House of Representatives of BiH. As a responsible person, I have not rushed anywhere, we are waiting for the decision of the Parliament, the representatives of all three peoples at the BiH level, and we will see if that decision will be confirmed," said Selak, who also supported Milorad Dodik, Nenad Stevandić, and Radovan Višković yesterday.

If this proposal is indeed on the agenda of the House of Representatives session tomorrow, it will not receive support.

The president of NIP, Elmedin Konaković, said last week that Selak could get a maximum of 12 votes (SNSD - 8 and HDZ - 4), and that he will not be the Minister of Security.

However, after the unconstitutional laws adopted by the authorities in RS, the president of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, stated that HDZ will not support anarchy and that the BiH Constitution and state institutions must be respected.
